Orchestras at Three Levels AND Classes for Adult
Beginners!
The West Seattle Community Orchestras welcomes all musicians,
beginning to advanced, young to antique. Each orchestra is open to all ages,
youth through adult, with informal auditions for placement in one of the three
different orchestras to suit your individual skill level.
THE ORCHESTRAS:
West Seattle Debut Orchestra: This ensemble is for those who are just
getting started playing, young and old. Through a generous grant from the
Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs through the Seattle Youth Symphony,
the Debut Orchestra has professional players giving individual instruction and
group coaching. Conducted by Rachel Nesvig. Rehearses Tuesdays
5:30 - 6:45 pm.
New registrations will be accepted for fall. Please check back in August.
West Seattle Intermediate Orchestra: This ensemble is for
those that may only have a few years experience or have advanced from the Debut
Orchestra. This group will give you the full symphony experience, a unique
opportunity in West Seattle. Through a generous grant from the Seattle Office
of Arts and Cultural Affairs through the Seattle Youth Symphony, the
Intermediate Orchestra has professional players giving individual instruction
and group coaching. Conducted by Toni Reineke PhD and Anton Coleman. Rehearses Tuesdays 5:30 -
6:45 pm.
New registrations will be accepted for fall. Please check back in August.
West Seattle Symphony Orchestra: Our top orchestra, playing
great works from the standard symphonic repertoire, with conductor
Kimberly Roy. Rehearses Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:45 pm. Third trimester April 2nd through June 11th.
Openings available for violin, cello, and bassoon to join now. New registrations of all instruments will be accepted for fall. Please check back in August.

Adult Beginning Strings Class
An 8 session introductory class for adult beginners
to get started on string orchestral instruments:
violin, viola, cello, or bass.
This class is taught by Kriszti Bunica, violinist and candidate for Masters of
Arts in Teaching.
Students must bring their instrument and bow.
Tuition is $80 for classes 7:15 to 8:15 pm, Tuesdays.
New registrations will be accepted for fall. Please check back in August.
Adult Beginning Winds & Percussion Class
An 8 session introductory class for adult beginners
to get started on wind orchestral instruments:
flute, clarinet, French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba,
and percussion.
This class is taught by Dr. Toni Reineke, WSCO founder and conductor.
Students must bring their own instruments.
Tuition is $80 for classes 7:15 to 8:15 pm, Tuesdays.
New registrations will be accepted for fall. Please check back in August.
Participation in the West Seattle Community Orchestras is offered
without charge to students K-12. We rely on the support of our community.
We ask adults to contribute approximately $150 per year toward our costs.
