Placement Auditions for those new to the Concert Orchestra:
-
Musicians new to WSCO or new to the Concert Orchestra are asked to play for 1 to 2 conductors or coaches at the start of the session.
-
Auditions are informal and serve as an opportunity for us to meet you and help find the ensemble that will best fit your current playing ability. Musicians are only required to audition once but are always welcome to re-audition at the start of any session, should they wish to switch ensembles.
-
You may request an audition at the time of registration. Auditions for the Winter/Spring 2024 session are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024
-
For placement in the Concert Orchestra, please be prepared to play:
-
2 Major scales of your choice from C, G, D, A, F, B-flat, E-flat, or A-flat (2 octaves preferred)
-
2 Minor scales of your choice (2 octaves preferred)
-
2 minutes of your choice of excerpts, or a piece you have prepared. The "excerpt" can be anything! A piece you are currently playing, an etude, a piece from your friend's clarinet book... whatever you are comfortable performing.
-
Expect some sight-reading (which will be an excerpt of the current repertoire)
